The Water for Life project by Crisis Aid provides clean and safe drinking water to communities facing severe water shortages. Many people in impoverished regions walk miles daily to fetch water, often from unsafe sources. Through this initiative, Crisis Aid installs water wells, hand pumps, and filtration systems, ensuring long-term access to clean water for families, schools, and entire villages.
Crisis Aid installs water wells in areas facing extreme water scarcity, including parts of Africa, Asia, and conflict-affected regions. We prioritise locations where people are forced to rely on contaminated water sources, putting them at risk of disease, dehydration, and malnutrition. Each well is built to last and serves hundreds of people daily, providing a sustainable solution to the water crisis.
The cost of building a water well varies depending on the location, depth required, and the type of well needed. On average:
- Hand pumps start from £150
- Small community wells cost around £250–£500
- Deep water wells in arid areas can range from £1,500–£3,000
Crisis Aid ensures that every donation contributes directly to providing clean water where it is needed most.
The time required to build a well depends on several factors, including the location, terrain, and depth of the water source. Generally:
- Shallow hand pumps can be installed within 4–8 weeks
- Medium-depth wells take around 8–12 weeks
- Deep wells in remote areas may take several months due to drilling and logistics challenges
Crisis Aid works efficiently to complete wells as soon as possible while ensuring high-quality construction.
Access to clean water transforms entire communities by:
✅ Preventing waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid
✅ Reducing child mortality and improving health
✅ Allowing children to attend school instead of fetching water
✅ Helping farmers grow crops and sustain their families
✅ Empowering women by reducing the burden of collecting water
Your donation to Water for Life provides more than just water—it gives hope, health, and a future to those in need.
